In spring, you can go on the above circuit
in the opposite direction. From Malga Moline, the run climbs
directly to Mount Ortigara taking the shortest way along the
track leading north to Spiazzale del Lozze and Valsugana.
At the turning, leave the yellow Valsugana circuit on the
right and climb up the unmaintained ridge to the left along
a cart road with some steep sections (be careful), until you
get to the refuge and the Chapel of Lozze. Leaving the chapel
on your left, climb up a small saddle from where you can see
Mount Ortigara which from here looks like an impregnable fortress.
Continue towards the north west until you reach Malga Ortigara
(1937m). Then continue along the depression until you reach
the bottom of the final slope. Though it looks daunting, it's
easy to climb if you zigzag and exploit the dips. In this
case, go back to the main refuge in the opposite direction
along the above-mentioned main track.
