Code: Yellow
Length: 29.5 km
Height Difference: 370 m
Time: 4 hours
This circuit is called Valsugana because it reaches the extreme
north of the Accrocoro on the edge of the Valsugana in a completely
unspoilt area. The first section takes the "Ortigara"
track up to the Mount Forno fork. Here, it continues to the
right and covers a very gradual long slope until it reaches
the saddle (1619m). Then there is an easy descent down a ridge
to the turning (1703m) where the main 'red' itinerary passes
by. You then bear left towards Malga Moline into depressions,
up humps and down a few slopes. At about 200m from the refuge
you bear left towards Piazzale del Lozze which is fairly easy
to reach up a small valley. Leave the Ortigara track on the
left and take the right-hand route that crosses the Piazzale
and climbs sharply north until it reaches the Pra della Porta
depression within sight of Mount Caldiera. Travel 1.5 km along
the beautiful flat valley to Porta Molina within sight of
Valsugana, 2000m of precipices with the villages of Strigno,
Borgo Valsugana, etc. in the valley and the Dolomites in the
background. Go back along the track a little and take the
left-hand track at the fork. A very gradual descent with one
or two steeper but short sections leads to Malga Moline. Go
past it on the left as indicated on the signs and go down
some slopes and a pair of hairpin bends to reach the Buso
del Diavolo depression. Go up slightly, then come down again,
another couple of hairpin bends, a few bends and you reach
the Fossetta fork. Keep to the left and continue going downhill.
When you reach the rocks of Poggiolo Cattagno a long slope
begins (8km) which leads first to Malga Mandriele and then
to Malga Fiara and Campomuletto. From there, go down to the
main Campomulo refuge.
